In the 17th century, this district was noted for a remarkable spiritual awakening which centred on the ministry of Richard Baxter who proclaimed the unchanging truth of Jesus Christ in a way which touched the hearts and minds of ordinary people and we seek to do the same today.
Our Vision
To be a church which seeks to fulfil the Great Commission (Matt 28:19) to make disciples and to obey the Great Commandment (Matt 22:37) by being:
* A church in which all that happens in our services is an expression of worship as an encounter with the presence of God.
* A church which equips and inspires through a commitment to faithful teaching and preaching of the bible.
* A church which genuinely welcomes and includes people of all ages and from all social backgrounds.
* A church which enables each member to discover and develop their natural and spiritual gifts
* A church which is actively reaching out in mission, locally and globally.
Although not within the official structures of the Church of England, Christ Church is constituted as an Anglican Church and is affiliated both to the worldwide Fellowship of Confessing Anglicans (FCA) and Reform.
